Senator William X. Wall Experiment Station

The Senator William X. Wall Experiment Station is the principle testing laboratory for the Massachusetts Department of environmental Protection, responsible for water and air testing throughout the state.

O'Connor was hired as Construction Managers by the Division of Capitol Asset Management for the $22 million renovation/ expansion that will transform the laboratory into a state of the art “green” facility. A new 13,000 sqft addition will expand the complex to 35,000 sq ft, housing cutting edge organic and inorganic chemistry and micro biology labs and analytical equipment.

The station was founded in 1887 by the Massachusetts State Board of Health to conduct research leading to the development of practical methods for treating sewage, industrial wastes and public drinking water supplies.

The Station is international recognized as one of the first laboratories in the world dedicated to environmental research. In 1975, the station was designated as a national historical Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers. The facility houses over 40 Scientist, engineers and support personnel in two organizational units of the Mass DEP.
